CSF-Tacoma's Story

College Success Foundation (CSF) opened the CSF-Tacoma office in 2009 to inspire underserved, low-income students to finish high school, graduate from college and succeed in life by providing a unique integrated systems of supports and scholarships. With demonstrated success in our initial Achievers Scholarship program at Foss, Lincoln and Mt. Tahoma high schools, CSF expanded its reach into two additional Tacoma high schools in 2009Stadium and Wilson. In addition to the five high schools, CSF-Tacoma also serves six middle schools: Baker, First Creek, Giaudrone, Gray, Stewart and Truman.

The College Success Foundation Board of Directors, as part of a comprehensive strategic plan that calls for working intensively with several Washington school districts, identified Tacoma as the first school district to receive expanded CSF services. Partnering with Tacoma Public Schools, local foundations and businesses, we work to ensure that Tacoma students are prepared for college and able to complete their college degrees. While high school graduation rates saw significant increases in 2013 and 2014, the need still exists for continued programs that encourage students to succeed in earning a bachelor’s or other postsecondary degree or certificate.

The range of programs offered by College Success Foundation-Tacoma includes:
