Why Not You Scholarship Application


This program is designed to inspire youth to envision their dreams and enable them to be successful by supporting them financially, socially, academically and emotionally. It is aimed at building upon what students DO HAVE, encouraging them to DREAM BIG and that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. The Why Not You Foundation will be awarding four $20,000 scholarships to attend a four-year college or university ($5,000 per year for four years) and four $5,000 scholarships to attend a technical school or community college ($2,500 per year for two years).


To be considered for the Why Not You Scholarship, students must:

  • Be a King County resident
  • Be a high school senior on track to graduate by June 2019 
  • Have a family income for 2017 that does not exceed the amount listed by family size in this chart
  • Have achieved a minimum 2.50 cumulative grade point average through fall 2018 term
  • Plan to enroll full time each term as defined by academic program starting fall 2019
  • Have already filed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the free Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).
  • Not be a descendant of benefactors, WNYF board members or employees of Chase or King County Library system.

Please note: International students, students on foreign exchange or visas, and out-of-state residents are not eligible.
