CSF-DC Out-of-School Time (OST) Programming

Tutoring is available after school, on Saturdays during Level Up, and throughout our six-week Summer Program. Our OST activities create a supportive and engaging learning environment that builds confidence, fosters teamwork, and strengthens academic, leadership, and social skills, all while making learning enjoyable.

Level Up with CSF-DC (formerly Saturday Academy) is an Expanded Learning Opportunity (ELO) that helps students strengthen academic skills, discover new interests, and prepare for college and career success.

Serving 7th–12th graders, Level Up offers 18 Saturday sessions throughout the school year and provides a preview of our Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP). The program is strongly encouraged for students earning a C or below in English, math, or science. Each session includes mandatory SAT/ACT preparation for all students, and tutoring in core subjects. College and career readiness workshops, guest speakers, community service, and art enrichment are also offered at Level Up. Students also gain access to valuable outside opportunities and resources that support their growth. Instruction is led by certified subject-area teachers.

The Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP) is a six-week, hands-on learning experience designed to prevent learning loss (summer slide), and prepare students for success in high school, college, and beyond. Through engaging, project-based instruction, SAEP keeps scholars motivated, challenged, and connected throughout the summer.

Students participate in a dynamic mix of courses, including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Business and Entrepreneurship, SAT/ACT Prep, the Arts, and STEM. The program runs Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Wednesdays feature guest speakers and community role models who share real-world insights, while Fridays are dedicated to college tours, field trips, cultural enrichment experiences, and industry visits that bring learning to life.

Instruction is delivered by certified subject-area teachers and supported by near-peer coaches, college students who mentor and guide participants throughout the program. Each summer concludes with our signature Gallery Walk, where students present their capstone projects and celebrate their creativity, hard work, and growth.

CSF-DC proudly partners with the Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP), allowing eligible students to earn while they learn. To receive compensation through MBSYEP, students must be at least 14 years old and complete the required application and orientation process with the Department of Employment Services.
