College Services

If you participated in a CSF program or received a CSF scholarship, please visit our college services community.

College is a major milestone for students. It is a time when they move into a challenging new world of freedom, responsibility, new peers and unfamiliar surroundings. That’s why our college coaches provide our scholars with continuous support from the high-school-to-college transition through college completion.

In September 2022, we expanded our college services to support 5x more students in an effort to increase direct-college enrollment and student persistence following the pandemic. Thanks to our partnership with Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC), more than 4,000 CSF Scholars have access to our college services.

Many of our 25 coaches and college staff are located directly on-campus, while others serve scholars remotely—a way that students find to be especially convenient. By using a hybrid approach, CSF broadens accessibility of its services while also ensuring effective, high-impact support for the students who benefit the most.

Proven success

Having evaluated CSF’s coaching impact, the independent Research Triangle Institute recently found1:

  • 92% of students said their coach played a role in their persistence
  • 88% of students said their coach taught them how to find support or resources
  • 96% of students reported growth in knowledge, skills and awareness

How it works

CSF Scholars who graduated from high school and received pre-college services through the Rally for College program or received a CSF scholarship are connected with a CSF coach who welcomes, guides and supports them on their college journey.

Certified in the FSM 7 Life Domains coaching model, our coaches offer free one-on-one guidance to all college students, but especially concentrate on first and second-year college students—a key inflection point to drive persistence.

Holistic and comprehensive

Our coaches employ a holistic approach, establishing goals and accountability practices with students on various life domains including: finance and employment, housing, physical and mental health, supportive relationships, cultural and personal identity, life skills, and education, which is the core of the model.

Coaches encourage students to bring forward and advocate for their own goals, and help students build personalized skills in each life domain through:

  • Trusted, one-on-one relationship building
  • Facilitating a sense of community and belonging
  • Providing webinars, workshops and crucial reminders related to college-related topics
  • Ensuring students stay informed on crucial financial aid, scholarship and career opportunities

Community support

Our coaches proudly partner with colleges to enhance students’ support networks by connecting them with on-campus and virtual resources aimed at making college and career success more achievable.
