Empowering Youth Tacoma Event Celebrates Class of 2021
College Success Foundation supports more than 2,100 Tacoma students each year to graduate from college and succeed in life. On May 18, we celebrated the graduating senior class of 2021 and raised funds for the next generation of Tacoma scholars at our Empowering Youth Tacoma event.
CSF advisor Rob Jones was emcee for this inspirational virtual event celebrating CSF Scholars and Alumni. Emmy-nominated poet, scholar, and educator Christian Paige said it best: our students “turn scarcity into abundance” and “pushed boulders and moved mountains to be here.”
CSF Alumna Annika shared her story of persistence. She showed us how education opens doors and changes the lives of our students and their families. And she reminded us of the importance of honoring where we come from and giving back to our community.
“College Success Foundation was able to make my dreams a reality and gave me the resources to choose a college that was the best fit for me,” Annika said. “Education does change lives. Education is a way to build ourselves up and build that knowledge so that so many more doors and opportunities can open for us.”
CSF-Tacoma’s Class of 2021 has experienced unimaginable hardships in an unforgettable year. Each one of them has shown their grit, hard work, and determination to persist, and we could not be prouder!
Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $147,000 to support underserved Tacoma students to graduate from college.
