Nurturing futures: CSF-DC students explore college campuses

On November 29, 2023, CSF-DC students embarked on an inspiring journey as they delved into the heart of higher education. The college tour took them to Morgan State University, where they had the privilege of meeting with Ms. Connie McDonald and Ms. Inga Williams, leaders of the university’s Upward Bound Program. The encounter shed light on the pivotal role Upward Bound programming plays on campus and underscored the impact of TRIO initiatives within the college setting.

Ms. McDonald and Ms. Williams, passionate advocates for educational empowerment, shared insights into the transformative experiences awaiting students at Morgan State. Their guidance illuminated the possibilities that lay ahead for our CSF-DC scholars, emphasizing the significance of educational support systems in shaping successful college journeys.

From Morgan State, the CSF-DC Scholars set out on another enlightening campus tour, this time exploring the grounds of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). Braving the cool weather, our students were not deterred, displaying excitement and curiosity as they navigated the campus and its diverse array of resources. Both tours were meticulously crafted to include visits to important landmarks, insights into key program elements, and discussions about admission requirements.

These immersive experiences were designed to provide CSF-DC students with firsthand knowledge to make informed decisions about their college admissions journey. More than just a walk through campus corridors, the tours aimed to ignite aspirations and allow students to envision themselves thriving in the collegiate environment.
