Party Honors L1000 Scholarship Donors

May 24, 2018

Earning the Leadership 1000 Scholarship was the first time that CSF Alumnus Daniel felt other people believed in him. Daniel shared his story of how CSF breaks the cycle of poverty for students and families at the Donor Appreciation Party on May 17, 2018. Approximately 100 attended the event at Pac Tower in Seattle.

Daniel’s family immigrated to the Seattle area from Vietnam in 1975. As a student at Franklin High School, seeing his family’s challenges motivated him to excel in school. But because his parents never went to college, there wasn’t an expectation for him to go. It also didn’t seem possible financially.

“CSF helped me realize that not only was college possible, but it was also a vital step in my journey to success,” Daniel told attendees. Read Daniel’s success story.

CSF Co-Founder Ann Ramsay-Jenkins thanked L1000 Scholarship donors. “Without the support of our donors, CSF would not have been there for scholars like Daniel. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” she said.

The event also honored Barry Goren, CSF’s L1000 Scholarship Director, who will be retiring in June. Richard Galanti, Costco Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, shared a tribute to Barry. Richard and his wife Barrie are philanthropic leaders in the community and longtime donors to CSF through the L1000 Scholarship and Costco Scholarship Fund. Attendees then toasted Barry and L1000 Scholarship donors.

Thank you to our wonderful donors. With your help, we are changing lives through education.
