CSF-Tacoma Hosts Celebration for Graduating Achievers Scholars

June 7, 2018

CPA Melody Rodriguez (Mt. Tahoma HS) celebrates with her graduating scholars.

College Success Foundation-Tacoma celebrated 250 graduating CSF Achievers Scholars from five high schools on June 6.

Chambers Bay provided a beautiful backdrop on a warm, sunny evening as CSF staff and students celebrated the CSF Achievers’ accomplishments. CSF Executive Director Shanna LaMar and CSF Program Manager Liesl Santkuyl kicked off the evening at Pierce County Environmental Services Building in Tacoma by welcoming students, donors and other special guests in attendance including Representative Jake Fey, who represents the 27th Legislative District.

CSF College Prep Advisors (CPA) Marina Shkarina (Foss High School), Rob Jones (Lincoln High School), Melody Rodriguez (Mt. Tahoma High School), Mikeala Mattes (Stadium High School), and Naveed Badri (Wilson High School) spoke to the crowd about what made their group of Achievers special. They also shared inspiring remarks as the students prepare for their high school graduation on Saturday and head off to college in the fall before the seniors received their CSF honor cords.

“Character is who you are and what values you uphold; reputation is what others think of you. This will be important to know in college and life,” Rob said. “Do everything with excellence. Establish the standards in your life to never take a short cut.”

CSF staff and students enjoyed a pasta bar dinner and cupcake dessert followed by post-event photos on the bluff.

Congratulations, CSF-Tacoma graduates, on your well-deserved success! A special thanks to CSF-Tacoma supporters for continuing to champion the 2,000 plus students we serve in Tacoma.
