BECU and CSF: Creating Statewide College Success

July 17, 2018

BECU team members assemble College Ready Pack for distribution to CSF-Spokane Scholars.

Across Washington state, BECU is known for their focus on “People Helping People” and their emphasis on financial empowerment. That’s why they are partnering with CSF to help low-income students attend and graduate from college through a generous grant to support financial literacy for CSF Scholars.

BECU teamed up with CSF to teach our scholars healthy financial habits in high school to prepare them for college. Through fun, tech-driven events like “Closing for Good” and Financial Reality Fairs, our students developed financial awareness to empower them to make better saving and spending decisions.

BECU was the College Ready Pack Sponsor for CSF-Spokane’s College Signing Day Celebration in May, an event for CSF-Spokane high school seniors to announce their college plans and celebrate their success with family and friends. BECU provided College Ready Packs to graduating seniors stuffed with all the necessities for a first-year college student.

Volunteers help students at Make It Happen!, our three-day, two-night college experience for foster youth, learn how to make sound financial decisions.

Over the summer, our 12th grade students are preparing for a successful senior year and smooth transition to college through our CSF Achievers College Experience. BECU is sponsoring the program that includes college campus visits, workshops focused on college fit, paying for college and navigating the college admissions process.

BECU has made a dramatic show of support for the young people we serve. We value this partnership and thank its members and employees for helping prepare the next generation of CSF Scholars for educational and financial success. We look forward to expanding our growing partnership with BECU.
