CSF-Yakima students explore business careers at the University of Washington
Exploring potential career paths is an essential part of every student’s educational experience. Recently, 46 students from Davis High School in Yakima, traveled across Washington to visit the renowned Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. This eye-opening trip provided them with valuable insights into the world of business and offered a glimpse into the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.
Exploring business careers
For these aspiring business professionals, the visit to the Foster School of Business was an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of careers in business. From marketing and finance to entrepreneurship and management, the students discovered the wide range of options that await them in the business world. Insightful discussions with faculty and staff shed light on the qualities and attributes that businesses look for in prospective employees. Armed with this knowledge, the students can now take proactive steps to cultivate these skills and experiences while still in high school, positioning themselves as strong candidates for future success.

Unlocking the path to UW
One of the most crucial aspects of the visit was the admissions presentation that provided the students with the requirements and expectations of UW’s admissions process. Armed with this essential knowledge, the students can now begin preparing themselves academically to meet the university’s standards.
Campus immersion
No visit to a university is complete without touring the campus itself, and the CSF-Yakima students were fortunate enough to experience the University of Washington’s breathtaking campus under the warm sunshine. CSF Scholars got a taste of the vibrant campus life where they could envision themselves thriving in a university environment and feel the budding sense of belonging and possibility a campus can provide.

Words of wisdom from CSF college students
During the students’ tour, we ran into four first-year college students currently enrolled in UW’s Foster School of Business. Smiling with pride and ambition, each CSF alum shared their words of advice for incoming first-year students:
Don’t be too hard on yourself.
Don’t procrastinate.
Don’t be afraid to explore.
No dream is too big.
These words of wisdom serve as a reminder that the journey to success may be challenging, but with determination, resilience and the support of CSF, our students have the power to turn their dreams into reality.
