What is your hometown?
My hometown is Seattle.
How did you choose South Seattle College?
I chose South Seattle College because of the great STEM programs they offer for my field of interest. They have great support services including tutoring, career counseling, student activities and so much more! The outdoors environment on campus is a well perfect setting for studying outside. I felt very welcomed, and the atmosphere is quiet and caring. It’s the right place for me to succeed.
What is your major (or intended major)?
My major is mechanical engineering.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to work in an industry where I can use my skills I’ve gained, like at Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Airbus, or a similar company.
Any clubs, activities or interests you participate in outside of class?
I participated in a mentoring program called SPEEA ACE to learn from experts about different career paths and their educational journeys. I also utilize resources at my school as CSF scholar where I communicate with my college coach, Sophie, and resources at TRIO SSS where I’ve utilized tutoring and made new friends.
What has been the most surprising thing for you so far about college?
The most surprising thing in college so far is the amount of independence that is required for me to manage my time, schedule and studies. It has changed a lot ever since high school.
What is one piece of advice you’d like to share with fellow students?
One piece of advice I would like to share is to stay organized, always have a planner on you to keep track of your assignments, deadlines, exams and quizzes as well as meetings and events, etc. College can get hectic trying to balance everything, and so I’ve found that keeping track of everything physically using a planner has helped me lay out everything that I have going on in my life, so I don’t miss a deadline or event!
