Closer to community: CSF-Seattle celebrates new office

May 22, 2023

College Success Foundation-Seattle recently celebrated the opening of its new Seattle office on April 20. Purposefully situated in Kent, WA, CSF-Seattle’s new South King County office allows our team to be even more integrated within the Seattle, Highline, Kent and Auburn district high schools, where the majority of our Seattle students attend. With an actual brick and mortar location, our staff can now host on-location centralized activities and events to engage students and their families.

The open house welcomed an array of community leaders, donors, staff from around the state, and CSF Scholars and their families. Guests enjoyed a festive atmosphere, complete with a live DJ and delicious food options from various cultural backgrounds reflective of the families we support, including East Asian, Mexican, Pacific Islander, and Black/African American-inspired cuisines. Nitasha Lewis, Talent Search Director at Highline College, raved about the event, saying: “The event was amazing! And the food, OMG!”

During the event, CSF’s leadership team highlighted their strong, supportive partnerships with a range of community-based organizations and schools like Highline College–located just across the street for even easier student access–and expressed their enthusiasm for working collaboratively and more effectively with their partners in this new space.

“We are so proud to cultivate a community space that centers our students. We look forward to continuing to increase our impact in the region and support students in their journey toward post-secondary success!

Lakesha Knatt, CSF-Seattle’s Program Director,

Guests were all smiles as they danced the evening away, and even heard the touching personal account of CSF alum, Brenda Reyes Jimenez, who now supports students of Green River College as a College Success Coach.

Thank you to all the local school partners, students and families who helped make this milestone event a smashing success. A special thanks to Dr. Jamilyn Penn, Vice President for Student Services at Highline College, for welcoming us into our new home base. By investing in the communities we serve and by championing the diversity of our scholars and their families, CSF is making a positive, lasting impact on the future of education in the Seattle area and beyond.
