CSF-DC Recognizes Nearly 100 Recent College Graduates
College Success Foundation – District of Columbia (CSF-DC), a nonprofit organization whose system of support programs and scholarships helps inspire underserved, low-income, first generation students to finish high school and complete college, hosted a recognition ceremony for new college graduates from their Achievers Program at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery. Nearly 100 CSF-DC Achievers earned their college degrees this past spring with several continuing their education at graduate and professional schools.
Herb Tillery, Executive Director, and Lester McKee, Director of Programs, urged students to recognize their graduation as just the beginning of a new journey. Justice Long, a CSF-DC alumna entering law school in the fall, encouraged students to use life’s adversity as a source of strength and fuel. The evening culminated in individual recognition of the recent college graduates.
Several students also shared stories of how CSF-DC personally impacted their lives and what they plan to do after graduation. Watch the video below to hear how they learned about CSF-DC and the impact they think their college degree will make on the world.
Since 2007, CSF-DC has awarded over $54.8M in scholarships and served over 2000 students. Annually CSF-DC provides programming for 1,300 students from 7th grade through college.
