2024 College Signing Day: College Success Foundation Spokane hosts ninth annual event at Gonzaga University
College Success Foundation Spokane proudly hosted its ninth consecutive College Signing Day celebration on June 11, 2024 at Gonzaga University. Each year, our CSF regions look forward to the momentous opportunity to celebrate our scholars’ graduation season and applaud their decisions to attend college later in the year. 2024 is no different. High school seniors in Spokane were joined by their families, mentors and community members to celebrate their acceptance into 18 different colleges and universities around the country.

“At College Success Foundation, our deepest hope is for today’s celebrated students to carry an unwavering belief in their own potential,” said Shannon Demant, CSF Executive Director for the Spokane region. “They have overcome so many barriers to pursue higher education, and we couldn’t be more proud. Coming from low socioeconomic and underserved backgrounds, our scholars are inspiring their classmates and our entire Spokane community. They demonstrate the incredible possibilities that education unlocks, and we are honored to support them on their journey.”
In keeping with tradition, students announced their college 2024 plans and autographed a giant banner to signify their commitment to attend college this fall. The room erupted in cheer as scholars, many of whom were the first in their families to graduate high school, proudly took center stage.

Gonzaga University President Thayne McCulloh, D.Phil., and Jaime Stacy, founder of SWAG, warmly shared important words of support. The evening also featured representatives from regional colleges and universities, college scholarship drawings and celebratory photos for all to enjoy.
“The College Signing Day celebration was so impactful and a reminder to the testament of my hard work and success,” said Merrick, a North Central High School graduate who will be attending Gonzaga University. “But if it wasn’t for Ingrid and the College Success Foundation constantly pushing me to be my best self I wouldn’t have been able to achieve all that I have.”

To equip them for their journeys ahead, each student received a College Ready Pack including a $50 gift card and school supplies. STCU Here for Good Foundation and Avista Foundation invited students to enter into a random drawing for six $500 college scholarships.
College signing day was empowering. It showed me that we can make the changes we, as students, strive for as long as we work together, are not afraid of failure, and, most importantly, believe in ourselves,” said Rory, who graduated from Rogers High School and will be attending University of Washington. “As low-income students, we may not have every opportunity available to us, but CSF showed that night that they are by our side to build the bridge and not let that stop us.”
We’d like to thank our event sponsors and partners for making this special celebration possible through their generous financial and in-kind support. We are so grateful for all you do to move to our scholars’ promising futures forward.
