College Success Foundation hosts its eighth annual College Signing Day at Gonzaga University

May 19, 2023

College Success Foundation Spokane proudly hosted its eighth consecutive College Signing Day celebration on May 18, 2023 at Gonzaga University. Each year, our CSF regions look forward to the momentous opportunity to celebrate our scholars’ graduation season and applaud their decision to attend college later in the year. 2023 is no different. High school seniors were joined by their families, mentors, and community members to celebrate their acceptance into 23 different colleges and universities around the country.

“At College Success Foundation, our deepest hope is for today’s celebrated students to carry an unwavering belief in their own potential,” said CSF Regional Director, Shannon Demant. “They have shattered barriers and defied expectations to pursue higher education, and we couldn’t be prouder. Coming from low-socioeconomic and underserved backgrounds, our scholars are inspiring their classmates and our entire Spokane community. They demonstrate the incredible possibilities that education unlocks, and we are honored to support them on their journey.”

In keeping with tradition, every student in attendance took the stage to receive their official honor cord to wear at their high school graduation and autograph a giant banner to signify their commitment to attend college this fall. The room erupted in cheer as scholars, many of whom are the first in their families to graduate high school, proudly took centerstage.

Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward and Gonzaga President Thayne McCulloh, D.Phil. warmly kicked off the evening by sharing important words of support, emphasizing Spokane’s commitment to our scholars’ success. The evening also featured representatives from regional colleges and universities, college scholarship drawings, and celebratory photos for all to enjoy.

“Thank you. The night was amazing and you made the entire event possible,” remarked CSF Scholar from Shadle Park High School and University of Washington President Scholar Nazinin. “Thank you for all you have done to support me.”

To get students well-equipped for their journeys ahead, each student was provided a College Ready Pack, which included a $50 gift card and other school supplies. Avista Foundation, a long time event sponsor, invited students to enter into an at-random drawing for six-$500 college scholarships.

We’d like to thank our event sponsors and partners for making this special celebration possible through their generous financial and in-kind support. We are so grateful for all you do to move to our scholars’ promising futures forward.

We invite our readers to make a positive impact on the educational journeys of our students. Make a gift today and discover what CSF means to our scholars below:
