Woodinville, WA - Chateau Ste. Michelle announced
today that its 20th annual "Summer Concerts at the Chateau"
will include performances by seven-time Grammy-winner Anita
Baker.
Baker will perform two nights, July
30 and 31, on the Chateau's scenic outdoor amphitheater in Woodinville.
Her concerts will help raise funds for the Chateau Ste. Michelle
Diversity Scholarship Fund, in conjunction with Washington State
University and the University of Washington. Both Baker appearances
are expected to sell out.
The winery also announced that country
music super star Vince Gill will open the concert season on June
11 with an 8 p.m. performance.
Tickets for these shows go on sale
February 21 at 9 a.m. through Ticketmaster at 206/628-0888, at
any Ticketmaster outlet or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
(Tickets will not be available at Chateau Ste. Michelle.)
Chateau Ste. Michelle's entire
summer concert schedule, which will run into September, will be
announced later this spring.
"Chateau Ste. Michelle's summer
concerts have become a hot ticket in the Seattle area over the
years, and we are pleased that all net proceeds support our charitable
giving program," said Ted Baseler, President and CEO of the
winery.
With her classy, refined brand of
romantic soul, Anita Baker was one of the definitive singers of
the 1980s. Gifted with a strong, supple alto, Baker was influenced
not only by R&B, but jazz, gospel, and traditional pop, which
gave her music a distinct adult sophistication. Smooth and mellow,
but hardly lifeless, it made her one of the most popular romantic
singers of her time. The show marks Anita Baker's triumphant return
after a seven-year hiatus.
Despite 15 Grammy awards, 18 CMA
honors and 22 million in album sales, Vincent Grant Gill is, at
heart, still the Oklahoma kid who picked up a guitar about the
time he could walk and never looked back. During "An Evening
of Conversation and Music," a performance series to support
his new album, "Next Big Thing," Vince Gill returns
to the music he cut his teeth on. The album touches on many of
Gill's influences, from country to bluegrass, from pop to R&B,
from folk to flamenco.
Now in its 20th season,
the 2003 Summer Concerts at the Chateau will offer nearly a dozen
concerts spanning the range of jazz, pop, country and blues. Each
concert takes place in the winery's picturesque outdoor grass
amphitheater with seating for 4,200.
Chateau Ste. Michelle is located at 14111 145th Street N.E. in
Woodinville. For additional information, call the winery at 425-415-3300
