ACE, the Achievers College Experience

The purpose of ACE is to provide newly-selected Achievers Scholarship Candidates (ASC) with the information and resources that they will need to be successful seniors in high school as well as an opportunity to experience campus life (residences & dining halls, socializing, and yes- the dreaded walking!).

During this four-day, three-night program, ASC will attend workshops about college admissions, how to pay for college, and how best to use the mentoring components of the Achievers Scholarship program. Students will also attend the ACE College Resource Fair to gather information and talk with admissions and recruitment personnel from most of the four-year colleges and universities in Washington state.

It's not all hard work, though! Students also participate in academic sessions presented by university professors, lecturers and instructors, as well as attend sessions with motivational speakers and have ample opportunities to discuss the college experience with their peer counselors (current college students) about what it's really like to go to college. There are fun-filled recreational activities including BBQs, access to on-campus recreational facilities, a student talent show and the Achievers Lounge (which in the past has included a dance, karaoke performances, access to the campus game room/facilities and Bingo.)

By the end of ACE, students should have a good idea about what to expect from college life and the tools necessary to get there. They will also have developed a new network of peers from across Washington state!
